Clay Bead & Jewelry Artisan Christine Smith, a lover of vintage treasures & playful creativity..has developed a wide range of  jewelry designs & whimsy in various media through the years.  It started years back with an inner passion to learn the legendary Native American peyote stitch beading and on the journey grew to expand with natural stones, Sterling Silver & then discovered such freedom of expression with earthen clays!

How exciting to make the beads!!  One at a time, each Ladybrook Bead is hand rolled from moist clay then designed with her found artifacts, old buttons, stamps, natural finds, then left to dry.  When the beads & clay pieces are dry & carefully inspected, they then are kiln fired to bisque, in a computer controlled kiln for hours then when cooled, the fun of glazing takes place! Each one is carefully hand-painted with glazes, kiln fired again for several hours  & with much excitement the kiln lid is opened to reveal new festive Ladybrook Beads ready to be made into amazing  one-of-a-kind Ladybrook Designs pieces with signature initialed solid brass heart dangle!

Her hand-crafted art has an inspiring beauty that draws from a variety of influences, including Old World, imagination, found artifacts, and natural elements. Christine has participated in regional fine Art & Craft Shows on the eastcoast for many years & sells her unique pieces at a few chosen shops, taught jewelry making at the beautiful Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, for many years & continues to enjoy demonstrating beading techniques & shows her work at the famous historic Mohonk Mountain House Barn Museum every summer. Ladybrook Designs Jewelry & whimsy pieces are enjoyed in private collections locally & all over the globe!

With  my new studio coming along... I look forward to expanding by teaching the fun of clay, jewelry making & crafting.... I believe there is a gift of creativity in all of us and my dream is to continue to explore, learn & share.   Back to the studio & clay...
